Terms & Conditions
Effective 2026-05-23
These terms govern your use of Nepali Calendar — the website at this domain, the Android and iOS apps of the same name, and the supporting service. The service is provided free of charge. By using it you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.
1. What the service does
Nepali Calendar is a free reference and personal-scheduling service built around the Bikram Sambat (BS) calendar. The current surface includes:
- BS↔AD date conversion and a calendar view with tithi, holiday, and event annotations.
- Daily panchang for any BS date.
- Daily and per-rashi rashifal.
- Sahit (auspicious-day) lists for major ceremonies.
- Per-account custom events with optional repeat rules and reminders.
- Per-account birthday reminders.
- Per-account kundali generation from your date, time, and place of birth.
- Customizable dashboard layout.
- A feedback channel for bug reports, feature requests, and praise.
Most surfaces are open to anyone (calendar, panchang, rashifal, sahit, holidays, converter, feedback). Personal surfaces (custom events, birthday reminders, kundali, profile, dashboard customization) require a signed-in account.
2. Who can use Nepali Calendar
Nepali Calendar is a general-audience calendar and reference utility. It can be used by individuals and families. If a minor uses any personal feature — kundali, reminders, or any account-bound surface — a parent or guardian is responsible for that use and for the content created on the minor’s behalf, and accepts these terms on their behalf.
3. Your account
An account is optional and only needed for personal surfaces. You can create one with an email and password or by signing in with Google. You are responsible for:
- Keeping your credentials confidential. Do not share your password or your Google session with anyone.
- The accuracy of the profile data you enter — name, date of birth, place of birth, preferred timezone, rashi. Kundali and rashifal output depend on what you enter.
- Every action taken from your account, including scheduled pushes and content created.
- Closing the account when you are done — open Profile → Delete Account, or contact us through the Feedback page.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, that have been compromised, or that have remained inactive long enough to trigger cleanup.
4. Reference, not authority
Calendar, panchang, rashifal, sahit, and kundali content is provided for reference and convenience. It is not religious, medical, financial, or legal advice and must not be used as the sole basis for ritual, ceremonial, medical, financial, or legal decisions.
- Calendar metadata (events, holidays, tithi) may be re-published or corrected at any time. Government holidays change year to year; almanacs vary by publisher.
- Panchang values are computed from standard astronomical formulae. They are suited to general reference use, not to lagna-level muhurta requirements.
- Rashifal is provided for entertainment and reflection. It is not personalized predictive advice.
- Sahit (auspicious-day) lists are best-effort and may differ between traditions. Confirm any major ceremony with a qualified pandit and a trusted almanac before acting.
- Kundali charts are generated from the inputs you provide. Small errors in birth time or place will shift the chart.
- We make no warranty that the service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any specific religious, ceremonial, medical, legal, or financial decision. You use the service at your own discretion.
5. Your content
“Your content” means everything you submit: custom events, birthday reminders, kundali inputs and outputs, dashboard layout, profile fields, and feedback messages.
- You retain ownership of your content. We do not claim any commercial rights over it.
- You grant us a limited, royalty-free license to store and display your content back to you and to use anonymized, aggregate signals to improve the product.
- You are responsible for the legality and accuracy of what you submit. Do not submit illegal, defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, or harassing content through any field, including event titles, names, kundali labels, or feedback bodies.
- Feedback you submit may be reviewed by our team to triage and respond.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, mirror, or republish data from the service without our written consent, or attempt to bypass our rate-limit and security controls.
- Probe, scan, or test the service for vulnerabilities except under an authorized security review you have arranged with us in writing.
- Use the service to send unsolicited messages, attempt credential stuffing, or impersonate another person.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the apps beyond what local law permits.
- Use the service in a way that interferes with other users — including by submitting deliberately malformed payloads or by abusing background notifications.
7. Push notifications
If you opt in, we will send push notifications. The current categories are:
- Daily rashifal — once per day at the time you choose in your profile.
- Birthday reminders — anchored to a date you choose; one notification per active reminder per year, plus the lead-time alert if you set one.
- Custom event reminders — fired according to the repeat rule and lead-time you set per event.
- Feedback replies — if our team responds to your submission.
- Occasional product notifications from our team.
You can turn off notifications at any time from your browser or device settings. You can adjust notification language, rashifal time, and per-event settings from Profile and the relevant page.
8. Advertising and monetization
The website displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. We may add other lawful monetization methods in the future. Any future monetization that requires payment from you will be clearly labeled before you commit.
- We do not control which specific ads are shown to you — Google does. We do not pass your account data into the ad request.
- Clicking an ad takes you to a third-party site that we have no control over.
- Where required by law, Google’s consent flows will appear before personalized ads are shown.
9. Third-party services
The service depends on a small number of third parties. Their terms also apply to your use of those parts of the service:
- Google Firebase (Cloud Messaging; Crashlytics on mobile) — https://firebase.google.com/terms
- Google Sign-In and Google APIs — https://policies.google.com/terms
- Google AdSense — https://www.google.com/adsense/new/localized-terms
- Google Analytics — https://policies.google.com/terms
- Swiss Ephemeris — used to compute kundali charts; redistribution governed by the Swiss Ephemeris public license.
10. Intellectual property
The Nepali Calendar name, logo, source code, design system, dictionaries, and the curated/normalized form of public-domain calendar data are owned by us or our licensors. Public-domain elements — including astronomical formulae and the underlying BS↔AD math — remain in the public domain; the value we add is selection, normalization, and presentation. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative services from our copyrightable material without permission.
11. Availability and changes
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, free of charge. We do not commit to a service level agreement. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We will avoid breaking changes to the public API where reasonable, but cannot guarantee perpetual compatibility.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — including, without limitation, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, and any warranty arising out of course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the service will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: we, our team, and our licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the service — including, without limitation, missed events, wrong muhurta, lost data, loss of profits, or any decision you took based on rashifal, sahit, kundali, panchang, calendar, or holiday information. Because the service is provided free of charge and you pay nothing for it, our total cumulative liability for any and all claims arising out of or related to these terms or the service is zero, and you agree that no monetary remedy is owed by us to you under these terms. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Nepali Calendar team from any claim, loss, or expense arising out of your violation of these terms, your misuse of the service, or content you submitted through your account.
15. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time and delete your account from the Profile page. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, if your account is compromised, or if continuing to provide the service to you would expose us to legal risk. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — accuracy disclaimer, IP, disclaimer of warranties, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law — will survive.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Nepal, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the service will be brought exclusively in the courts seated in Kathmandu, Nepal, unless your local consumer-protection law gives you a non-waivable right to a different forum.
17. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app. Continued use of the service after the change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
